Side and method of opening the door

Contrary to what one may think, the side to which the doors open is very important for the household members. Before we decide how and what the side our doors should open on, we must take into account, first of all, the passageway, functionality of the room, furniture arrangement, light switch, etc.

The only effective and reliable way to determine the side to which the door opens is to face the door so that we can physically see the hinges. If the hinges can be seen on the left, it is a left-hand door; if the hinges are visible on the right, it is a right-hand door.

Method of opening the door

Opened to the outside - doors open to the corridor (this is the standard practice). When standing in the corridor, we can see hinges and doors open to the corridor (“to us”).

Opening to the inside - the door opens to the room.
When standing in the room, we see the hinges and the door opens to the room we are in. In this case, it is also necessary to choose the right side of the glass pane/stained glass. If in the door opened to the inside, the right side (“better looking one”) of the glass pane is to be placed facing the corridor, the door will be glazed differently - it is an option without additional charge. We recommend glazing all doors consistently on one level, or located close to each other. For example, have the right side (“better looking one”) from the corridor side regardless of whether the door opens inwards or outwards, because then, when walking along the corridor, we can see the same glazing.

How to specify door dimensions
A common mistake made when specifying the dimensions is to confuse opening dimensions with door dimensions.

Dimensions of the opening is a hole in which the door will be placed.
The door itself must therefore be smaller than the opening so that it can be fitted into the opening without additional work.

The door dimensions are otherwise the dimensions of the outer side of frame.
Door dimensions include necessary clearance for installation
